Trim Transparent Image Borders

Auto-crop empty transparent padding from PNGs and images with alpha. Free online trim tool that runs in your browser.

About this tool

Trim Image crops empty or fully transparent borders so the content sits tight to the canvas. Useful after background removal or when exports include leftover padding. Threshold and padding controls keep fringe detail when you need it.

Best for: Transparent PNGs with wasted empty margins after keying or export from other tools.

How to use it

  1. Load an image that has transparent or empty borders.
  2. Adjust the alpha threshold so only true empty pixels are treated as trimable.
  3. Add padding if you want a small safe margin around the subject.
  4. Download the tightened result.

Common problems and tips

  • Nothing gets trimmed. Opaque canvases or white JPEG backgrounds are not transparent. Use Background Remover first, or lower the alpha threshold if fringe pixels remain.
  • Important edge detail is cut off. Add padding in the controls, or raise the alpha threshold so near‑transparent fringe is kept.
